23 Students, 2 Staff of Ajayi Crowther University Docked Over Myrdery Of Jeffery Timilehin Alex Akro

Twenty three students and two Staff of the Ajayi Crowther University are currently being prosecuted at the Chief Magistrate Court, Ibadan Magisterial District, Oyo State, Nigeria, over the murder of a Warri, Delta State-born 200 level Mechanical Engineering undergraduate of the University, Prince Jeffery Timileyin Alex Akro.

This is coming as one of the kinsmen of the deceased, Comrade Alex Eyengho, disclosed earlier in the week on Arise Television that the family, university, and the police have agreed to carry out an autopsy on the body of the murdered Prince Akro, as part of the ongoing investigations by the police.

The accused were earlier today, Wednesday, June 5, 2024, arraigned in court and subsequently remanded in prison until July 8, 2024, for trial.

According to the Oyo State Police command, the accused were arraigned for allegedly conspiring with one another to commit felony at about 9:00 pm on Friday, May 24, 2024.

In the case, which was instituted by the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State, in Charge No: M1 7341c/2024, the accused were said to have beaten Prince Akro with planks, electrical wire and shaved his hair, which led to the death of one of the Princes of Warri Kingdom, whose mother, Princess Anthonia Emiko is one of the direct children of the 18th Olu of Warri Kingdom, His Majesty, Ogiame Erejuwa II.

While some of the accused killers of Prince Jeffery Akro are said to still be at large, the 25 of them who were arraigned in court and listed on the charge sheet are: KUMOLU OPEYEMI DANIEL ‘M’ AGE 21 YRS, OLUWOLE OLANSHILE THOMPSON ‘M’ AGE 25 YRS, LAWAL VICTOR TOMILOLA ‘M’ AGE 23 YRS,
OMOLAKIN OLUWATOMIWA ANTHONY ‘M’ AGE 24 YRS, FOLORUNSHO OLUWAKUNMI ‘M’ AGE 21 YRS, and BOLARINWA OLORUNTOBA VICTOR ‘M’ AGE 20 YRS.

OLADOYE FEMI OLA ‘M’ AGE 34 YRS (Staff), KEHINDE OLABUSUVI MARTINS ‘M’ AGE 32 YRS (Staff), OKORIE SAMUEL ‘M’ AGE 20 YRS,
MUSTAPHA KHALID ‘M’ AGE 23 YRS, MUSTAPHA USMAN SEGUN ‘M’ AGE 19 YRS, ADENIRAN YUSUF ‘M’ AGE 20 YRS, OLOYEDE FEMI ‘M’ AGE 18 YRS, AREOYE JOSEPH ADURAGBEMI ‘M’ 19 YRS, OYELAKIN 1YANUOLUWAPO ‘M’ AGE 18 YRS, OLALEKAN OBALOLUWA ‘M’ AGE 20 YRS, and ADEJUMOBI EMMANUEL ‘M’ AGE 18 YRS.

Others are, DAUDU JOHN OLUWASEUN ‘M’ AGE 18 YRS, GANA SOLOMON ‘M’ AGE 21 YRS, MOSES ABIOLA ‘M’ AGE 20 YRS, TIJANI HAMMAD ‘M’ AGE 21 YRS, OMON-FUMEN JENKINS ‘M’ AGE 21 YRS,
OKAY-AROH GERALD ‘M’ AGE 20 YRS, KOLAWOLE DAVID ‘M’ AGE 22 YRS, and
AFESOJAYE EMMANUEL ‘M’ AGE 18 YRS.

The brutal murder of Prince Jeffery Timileyin Alex AKRO has been generating so much tension in the country with the leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), family and friends of the deceased staging a national peaceful protests, demanding for justice and calling out authorities at the Ajayi Crowther University for their negligence and abandoning their duty of care to the murdered Prince Akro and other students of the university.
